Emma Hollens (b. 1971) was a daughter to Henry Hollens and Amelia Hollens (nee Smith). She graduated from the University of Hull with a BA. Hons in Politics, before attending University College, Oxford. It was at University College, whose notable alumni include Clement Attlee and Harold Wilson, that Emma joined the Labour Party.

Before becoming a MP, Emma worked in a number of thinktanks including the Fabian Society and IPPR. She was also Special Advisor to two Cabinet Ministers, Alistair Darling and Alan Johnson. The support of the latter helped Emma become the Labour PPC for Hull North after Diana Johnson stood down.
