Noah Murray
Labour MP for West Ham
Noah Murray was born in London in 1974 into a working class family. His father was an auto mechanic and his mother a nurse with the NHS. Murray attended public schooling, and earned a scholarship to King's College London, where he studied political economy (graduating in 1994). While there, he developed a passion for the trade union movement. He would oppose the efforts to create "New Labour" under Tony Blair during his time in postgraduate study of public policy.
Noah Murray went on to work for a series of trade unions (including Amicus and Unite) as a policy researcher. In 2010, he was selected to stand for the safe-Labour seat of West Ham - a position he has held since. There, he has been a vocal opponent of austerity. He has also shown a streak of supporting government reforms.
