RE: General Press Cycle - Tommy Dawson - 09-25-2020

For those across Britain disappointed that the Tory smoke-filled rooms decided their next leader will either be the architect of the disastrous Maastricht deal or one of its biggest proponents, Labour sees you. We have offered a plan to negotiate a Treaty that protects workers' rights and our sovereignty and will continue to fight for it.

RE: General Press Cycle - Quinn Shaw - 09-25-2020

Heading into this second round of balloting, it is my pleasure to endorse Mr. Macmillan - a proven leader who has shown his commitment to keeping Britain safe, to building a strong economy, and who will ensure that Conservatives will be in their best position heading into an impactful general election. Make no mistake: this election is vital to our nation's future. Do we double-down on the policies of success that have given us 13 years of uninterrupted government, or do we flock to the failed socialist ideals of Labour? I choose the former, and that is why I am supporting Dylan Macmillan as our next Prime Minister.

RE: General Press Cycle - Brown - 09-25-2020

All the continued chaos and drama in the Tory Party makes clear: Labour is the only party capable of Governing responsibility and able to command a majority. For all the fear tactics the Tories have deployed to try and smear Labour, we have remained a united party dedicated to the principle of good Governance while the Conservatives have been plagued by severe scandals, backstabbing, never-ending leaks, shady back-room dealings, and incompetence. Fortunately, the British people will have an opportunity to make their voice heard in the coming months and the objective reality of the situation is clear: Conservatives can not be trusted to govern this great Kingdom.

RE: General Press Cycle - Ruth Murphy - 09-26-2020

I love this country, and I think it can do so much better than the same circle of private school boys still living out their Oxbridge rivalries well into adulthood.

We don’t need another man who wants power for himself. We need one who wants power so that he can give it back to the working people of this country who have been sold out time and time again by these successive Tory backroom deals.

RE: General Press Cycle - Joseph Hollidge - 09-26-2020

While the Conservatives continue to in-fight among themselves in the style of school boys. It’s clear that we need a government which is going to face up to the issues and not face inwards to fight one-another. Labour is united, prepared and organised. The conservatives are divided over the biggest issues facing this nation and it is more and more clear that they are not sure what they stand for. I personally wouldn’t trust the current government to organise a p…party in a brewery let alone attempt to govern this nation. The joke now is how many Tories does it take to debate in parliament all of them half to support themselves and half to oppose. The Tories are divided, incompetent and rudderless.

RE: General Press Cycle - James Davies - 09-26-2020

The country needs real leadership, and it’s the unfortunate reality that we have a government that cannot and will not provide the leadership that we need. They are more interested in helping their own country club mates than helping the working class backbone of this country.

There is a stark difference between Labour and the Conservative Party right now in many, many ways. But one of the largest differences is the unity in Labour compared to a Conservative Party that is constantly at each others throats.

It’s lucky then that we have a Labour Party committed to positive change in this country and that will provide the real leadership that is so vital that we have to take Britain into the 21st century.

RE: General Press Cycle - Ruth Murphy - 09-27-2020

The Tories' Maastricht changes aren't even cosmetic, they're not changes at all. There hasn't been any renegotiation but instead steps that can be taken at home by introducing a single select committee and a promise for a referendum lock. The issues that have been raised in the Maastricht Treaty have not been renegotiated, and Mac is hoping his con trick can be forced through Parliament when it has been decisively rejected.

Wilfred Hart can be bought by a Ministerial car, but committed eurosceptics will see through this sham. That's why so many Tory MPs have already left.

RE: General Press Cycle - Nicholas Eden - 09-27-2020

It is the honour of a lifetime to lead our nation as Prime Minister. I will be a Prime Minister that puts the nation's priorities first, we will tackle child poverty, we will lift the poorest out of tax, and we will deliver for families up and down the UK. It's time to deliver on these priorities while charting a course into the new Century.

RE: General Press Cycle - Alex Cardigan MP - 09-27-2020

I welcome Saxon & Goldsmith's new party to the fray, quite authentically. They operate on quite a different wave length to most of their colleagues, and, indeed, most people, so it makes sense that they have their own group in Parliament too. I want to send a very clear message to the two of them, though: being a third party is not easy. You cannot buy democracy or buy seats, you have to work hard, earn trust locally, and you cannot stake your whole party out on one issue when your job is to deal with hundreds of issues.

This of course only strengthens the case for proportional representation. With the Liberal Democrats, Conservatives, Labour, Referendum Party, nationalists in Wales & Scotland, and perhaps even local independents or fringe parties, we could have some four, five, or six-way fights in constituencies. Whilst that democratic process and campaigning process is not to be shunned, we are going to have some incredibly unrepresentative results. One can win a seat on just a fifth of the vote - that cannot possibly be fair or democratic to the 80% of voters left in the cold. We need reform and we need it soon.

RE: General Press Cycle - Griff Rhys Morrison - 09-27-2020

The election result in Ireland, and the subsequent comment from the returning Taoiseach that Ireland would not "take anything lying down" on Northern Ireland points us to a most unfortunate conclusion; that this Government's inflammatory rhetoric, disregard for Catholic and nationalist communities, so-called 'fortification' policy and their mishandling of the Northern Ireland Office, has damaged our relationship with the Republic of Ireland and has risked a successful peace process.

The Labour Party supports the peace process and will do whatever it can to ensure its success, but the Government must now concede that their actions and words have now made that all the less likely.
