The British public want decency, level headedness and honesty from their political leaders and Labour party have been found wanting in this regard. You have a leading labour politician who cannot hold a discussion without resorting to vulgarity, this is someone Labour would have representing Britain at home and abroad. But a simply apology from the Ms Murphy would have sufficed and the whole thing would be yesterday's news.

But Labour attempted a dishonest cover up with Mccrimmon and Dawson. Their little cunning stunt has backfired. Our politically neutral civil service corroborates the education secretary presence at this meeting so what else about the Labour trios version of events isn't the truth. Their failure to own up to something as minor as a swear shows that they are not fit for public office.

Leaving aside further antics by unruly Labour MP's and the shocking inability of Opposition frontbenchers to take responsibility for their own actions, now we have it on record that leading Labour politicians have willingly tried to cover up for Ruth Murphy's behaviour against what the actual evidence shows. The reason why this is such an important point is because it really could have been just a matter of accepting responsibility and doing the right thing after mistreating a parliamentary colleague. That this was not their actual course of action, and indeed that their actions thus far involve a cover up, desperate deflections of the subject, and/or continued irresponsible behaviour, is remarkable. If Labour’s first instinct when they make a mistake is to attempt a bizarre, shambolic and ultimately absurd cover up, then may I suggest the public have every right to question their judgement.

These talks of a ‘Labour cover up’ are ridiculous. Labour, the leadership and frontbench, has maintained one sole position: we don’t comment on private discussions and Westminster gossip. Perhaps if government Ministers took the same position there wouldn’t be a crisis on the continent right now, but here we are.

That would explain why the new Leader of the Opposition denied that there was evidence of your shameful comments.

Labour have insulted 20 million voters, lied about it - and then covered it up. Absolutely shameful.

Number of statements in the press the Prime Minister has made about a Westminster gossip and private conversations she has no business in at all: 15. 

Give the act up, Busybody Bonaparte. Private discussions between Mr. Cardigan and I have nothing to do with you, but the state of the economy actually does. While you waste your time worrying about private conversations you have no business in and that no one could truly verify, I'll be worried on crafting a bold economic vision for Britain.
