Transportation: Justine Greening was in the cabinet that delivered devastating cuts to London’s transportation system. While Justine Greening was rubber-stamping 40 per cent cuts to London’s transportation budget and enacting up to 60 per cent cuts to London’s funding from the central government. John McDonnell fought against these cuts before it was popular, John is a brilliant leader that led the London government and controlled a budget over 3 billion pounds back then. He has delivered balanced budgets every single time. He was committed to public transportation when it was the heyday of cars. John’s plans for transportation in London includes expanding nighttime service on the Tube, making sure the Elizabeth Line project is finished and opened. John will commit to green transport while Justine Greening’s Tories plan to scrap HS2 and invest 6 billion in a proposal nobody wants.

Diverse and Global London: London is a city that is renowned for its diversity and global attractiveness. This reputation took a long time to build and when John McDonnell was in power he fought for LGBTQ rights, rights of ethnic minorities and women. As London’s mayor, he will build trust on the Met with recommendations from Stephen Lawrence Inquiry. John will strengthen programmes that tackle Islamophobia, homophobia, transphobia, and anti-Semitism. John will ensure that in a post-Brexit world, London will continue to be a global centre of commerce and trade.

Policing: Justine Greening’s Tories gutted our police services and we are in more danger due to it. Thanks to Justine Greening and her Tory government cuts to policing have led officer numbers in London to drop to their lowest level per head in 20 years. More than 9,300 police staff jobs have been lost from the Metropolitan police force since 2010. The Met has already been forced to make more than £700 million in cuts since 2010. As Mayor, John McDonnell will expand the first Violence Reduction Unit and will hire 1300 new police officers. Justine Greening can not solve the problems she has created herself. London deserves better than that. Even Tory MPs seem to understand that, when talking about police numbers and safety in local communities, a Tory MP stated that Tory governance is a failure in leadership, that people are scared to go into the communities. Another Tory MP stated that Tory leadership is full of scandals and sleaze. How can we trust Tories to run London when they can’t even convince their own MPs.

The following leaflet is handed out, focused on the themes of the day. There is a picture (and captions identifying names) for Labour candidates in the area and outlines of various local landmarks.
