Biography
Eden Banks was born to parents, Michael (b. 1950) and Leanne Banks (b. 1952), in London. She grew up in the city, with her parents and her brother, Michael Jr. (b. 1976), and sister Rachel (b. 1981). Her parents' jobs provided a middle class life for the family, with her father working in law and her mother a journalist.

Eden was the perfect middle child, the rebellious but caring one. She worked hard at school and earned herself a place in Cambridge to study Human, Social, and Political Sciences, earning herself first class honours. After university, she went into social work, with the ambition to help people in their struggles. Eden’s work was recognised with awards for her contributions to improving impoverished people’s lives in the London area. This work was noticed by the Conservative Party, who invited Eden to join their Social Policy Research team. Here she helped build up the Tories social policies in the lead up to the 2010 General Election, which saw the party return to Government for the first time in thirteen years.

During her time working for the party, Eden got more involved with a desire to run for election to fight to improve the quality of living for people on the front line of politics. She was selected to run for the London Assembly in 2008, which she was elected to as the 3rd Additional Member. Eden got back to doing what she did best, and had done for years previous in her old job - fighting for better lives for the people of London. Her work as an elected representative and in the Tory policy group was noted by David Cameron, and on the recommendation of Boris Johnson, she was hot-shotted to stand in the 2010 General Election in Stratford-on-Avon. Eden was successful in winning the seat, with a majority of 11,346 votes and a 51.5% vote share.

Continuing her work in Parliament, she was brought into the Coalition Government as firstly the Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State for Health Services from 2012 to 2014, and then as Minister of State for Immigration and Security from 2014 to 2015. After the 2015 election, Eden decided to take a step back from Government to focus on her local constituency work.

Eden currently lives between her home in Stratford-upon-Avon, and an apartment in London. She is currently in a relationship with her partner of two years, Alexa.
