EDM 2: English Language Requirements

“That this House calls upon Her Majesty's Government to offer time for debate so that legislation may be put forward to supplement and significantly strengthen the Immigration & Asylum Act 1999; name will require any foreign national who wishes to emigrate and settle in the United Kingdom to submit documentation of their English capabilities to the Immigration and Nationality Directorate of the Home Office, with exception of those whose mother tongue is English, which will compel immigrants who are already within the United Kingdom to be required to submit an English capability assessment within 2 years of enactment of such measures, excepting immigrants who have already submitted English requirements for universities and similar organisations for selection and arrival to the United Kingdom.”
