EDM 5: Prison Reform

Early Day Motions can be put forth by any MP on any subject or issue. They are, as a rule, not debated and never go to division; they are usually submitted with the signatures of other MPs who are in agreement with the contents and are simply a way for MPs to express their feelings on a particular issue in a short-hand type of way.

EDM 5: Prison Reform

That this House calls upon Her Majesty's Government to instigate a commission into prison reform, with a specific focus on ensuring the formerly incarcerated have the support required to live their second chance to the fullest, and with a remit to make British prisons just, humane, and effective.
