Thank you all for your patience over the past couple of days as we got things sorted.

I am pleased to announce that the next round of Politics UK will have a start date of 13 April, 2019. Without revealing the exact scenario, I can tell you that that United Kingdom will have formally left the European Union at 11pm GMT on 12 April, 2019 in our timeline. This will be a post-Brexit round.

We understand that there was a lot of motivation for a historical round. However, the results of census that was completed revealed that post-Brexit was the most popular round era. We needed to take that into consideration as we made our decision. Moreover, there was a divide in that more people who preferred a post-Brexit round were willing to serve as leaders and senior frontbenchers than in a 70s round. This is critical, as past experience dictates that leadership and senior frontbenchers are vital for driving forward the early success of a round.

The team was unanimous in making this decision, which we firmly believe is in the best interest of the game.

In regards to the future schedule, we would like to lay out what you can expect over the coming week. In the next few days, we will begin clearing out the forum and the Discord from the 2015 round and setting it up for the coming round. Likewise, in that time, we will begin posting a number of proposed rule and gameplay changes for discussion and draft critical information for the round (state of the parties, new player guides, biography formats, etc). The vast majority of the rule and gameplay changes will be put forward for discussion prior to being finalised. This process will be completed by (or over) the weekend.

In terms of starting the new round, we will begin posting pre-round news on Friday and Saturday. Sign-ins will open on Saturday. It is our hope that we will be able to open initial debates on Monday and have leadership elections begin on Wednesday. The exact rules for leadership elections will be laid out in due course. In the meantime, we will be opening a channel on Discord (#character-and-party-planning) for you to self-assort into parties. As with the 2015 round, we retain the right to shuffle the deck if it is impossible to get balanced parties. I should also note that only the Conservative Party and Labour Party will be playable at this time. In line with your stated willingness to have a more interventionist A-Team, we will control the minor parties for the timebeing.

Again, thank you for your patience and we look forward to seeing you back in 2019 (a happier, pre-COVID era).*

*Note: There will be absolutely no COVID in the coming round.
