Referendum Parliamentary Leader Harry Saxon spoke to reporters and the public outside HM Prison Pentonville today. In his speech Mr Saxon announced a referendum on the reintroduction of the death penalty for murder, rape and paedophilia.

Thank you for coming outside HM Prison Pentonville today.
We face a major problem within our criminal justice system. We are seeing more individuals commit crimes and being locked up with prison staff and prisons unable to cope with the demand. The Conservative Government has had ample opportunity to pursue reforms and has come up short every time. Former Home Secretaries, Patricia Carmichael, William Croft, Lance Campbell to name a few have all failed to address the issue.
The past Conservative Governments have maintained the stance of whole life orders which are issued by the Home Secretary of the government of the day. A whole life order is where a prisoner who is sentenced to life imprisonment is ordered to serve without any possibility of parole.
The problem with Whole life orders, is that it does not do what it says on the tin. A whole life order does not actually mean life imprisonment as often we see prisoners released on compassionate grounds such as age or injury.
The question I have for you all is this; how do you think the family of the victim feels when the individual who committed murder and took a life is allowed to walk away from prison, when they were supposed to been sentenced to “life imprisonment”?
As a society how can we be confident that those who are dangerous and take lives cannot be released when we have seen the Court of Appeal quash whole life orders and convicted murders released on compassionate grounds?
Why should we be giving those who are prepared to take a life, compassion?
This is all fundamentally wrong.
The current system we have is broken. Whole life orders do not work. It is not a question for the government of the day to decide who or how long anyone should spend in prison.
There is a different solution and referendum believe the people of this country should be allowed to answer that question rather than politicians.
I can confirm today, that under a referendum government we will put to you, the British people, the question on the restoration of capital punishment for the most serious crimes, including all murder, paedophilia and rape.
We will hold a referendum on the reintroduction of capital punishment, the method by hanging. This will be held in the first 90 days of a referendum government and I will be campaigning in this referendum for the reintroduction of capital punishment for the offences of murder, paedophilia and rape.
I believe murderers, rapists and paedophiles should face the death penalty, a life for a life, with no compassion for their brutality.
Before the establishment jumps up and down in anger and despair let me say this, we already hang traitors for treason as we have seen with Patricia Carmichael, the KGB agent who was once Home Secretary.
Will Croft is currently charged following his arrest for espionage and in the prison behind me, If he is found guilty and convicted, then i believe for his betrayal he should be hanged.
However capital punishment for offences other than treason is not a new concept to this country, both Labour and the Conservatives supported it for decades until it’s abolition in the 1960s.
There have also been calls for the reintroduction of capital punishment over several years. In 1974 when UK citizens were killed in several IRA bombings there was a renewed debate. In the early days of the Conservative Government under Margaret Thatcher Conservative MPs submitted motions in the house. The debate on Capital punishment keeps coming back, so let us have a referendum to finally answer the question.
Let us also not forget here that it also costs you, the taxpayer to fund prison places for scum like murders, paedophiles, and rapists. A percentage of your salary from tax is going towards these scum, so they can eat and socialize with other criminals in a prison. How can that be right?
It makes my blood boil.
Let me make one thing clear however, Referendum will respect the answer of the British people to this especially important question whatever the result.
The difference between referendum and this establishment is we will give you the opportunity to answer this question when they are terrified at the thought of you having your say.
A referendum on capital punishment is not the only policy referendum has on the question of justice. A referendum government will take measures to ensure that life does really mean life where the case of capital punishment may not apply. I will be making further announcements on the election campaign trail.

You, the people of this country must be allowed to decide if you want murders, rapists and paedophiles to face “life” in a prison whilst you are paying for their upkeep, or if you want them to no longer be a threat to society and face the death penalty. They have either taken a life or damaged someone's life forever, so they should pay the ultimate price.
It’s time for a referendum.
