Welcome to PoliticsUK – whether you are new or returning. PoliticsUK (or PolUK) is the longest running political simulation on the internet, running now for seventeen years (although the people have changed rather a lot!). We’ve all been new, so this is a quick guide on how to go about starting out
What is this?
In PolUK you will play an MP in one of three main parties (you can learn more about them here), debating and proposing laws, and trying to win elections. How you go about that is up to you! You could become a government Minister, Prime Minister, or a maverick backbencher.
Step 1 – Make a character
You can find how to do this here.
Step 2 – Sign up to Discord
PolUK is played on this site and on Discord – you can find out how to sign up here.
Step 3 – Get involved!
There are lots of ways to get involved. We typically divide activity between this forum and Discord. That does mean that Discord will be essential to play the game.
On the forum:
Hold debates on legislation, Ministerial statements, and motions
Create and store characters
Vote
Press cycles
Elections
Newspapers
Party HQs (for whips) and whips offices
Rules, announcements etc.
On discord, we:
Ask and respond to Ministerial questions
Civil service
Press conferences
Live events, such as question time and live PMQs
Twitter / Tea Rooms
